Featured Types of Concrete Overlays
There are several types of overlays to restore concrete surfaces.
We recommend several types of overlays depending on the condition of the concrete, how much repair is needed, and the desired final finish for the floor.
Micro-Toppings
True Finishing specializes in micro-toppings. We use a variety of different applications to achieve beautiful results. We apply a micro-topping is to the surface of a floor and it essentially creates a new canvas. The possibilities are endless. You can stain, dye, add color in the topping, acid stain or any combination of these to make a “unique floor that will never be duplicated.” Your imagination can run wild with these types of floors for they truly are one of a kind.
Polishable Concrete Overlay
This type of finish is an excellent choice with you have an old or damage concrete floor and want to transform it into a true polished concrete floor. This is a thicker pour of concrete that is somewhat similar to terrazzo. The thicker pour allows us to come back with polishing equipment and grind and polish the surface and expose the sand or aggregate to different levels. Once completed, you would have a brand new polished concrete floor.
Stamped Overlay
A stamped overlay is a thicker pour of concrete that allows for a stamped stone, tile, or brick texture. Stamped overlays are ideal for damaged concrete or for situation where a full stamped slab of concrete is not feasible or economical. The existing concrete is first prepped through sandblasting or mechanical grinding or scarifying. There is a 1/4-inch or so of new concrete and we apply it to the surface. We then use a textured rubber mat to impress a new design onto the concrete. Stamping can mimic the look of brick, stone, slate or other textures.
